  • Measure a portion of the pre-mix powder by volume or weight

  • Roll into balls of about 2 cm diameter then flatten into discs for shallow frying or baking.
  • Heat oil.
  • Shallow fry for approximately 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • Or you can deep fry for 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
  • Grease a non-stick pan using your favourite oil.
  • Place the falafels on the pan and brush them with oil.
  • Bake for more or less 15 minutes, depending on your oven, turning the falafels over midway.
Pro Tips

If your hands start getting sticky when rolling falafels, embrace it. Keep a bowl of water near you, and keep your hands wet to make rolling easier.

Add extra chilli powder or cayenne pepper for extra spicy falafel.

Instructions for one  pancake (for one plate size pancake or two smaller flapjack style pancakes):

  • Heat a non-stick pan to high heat. Add an oil. Coconut oil works really well.
  • Mix ⅓ of a cup (80ml) of pancake mix with 100ml of cold water or plant milk. Mix very quickly.
  • Immediately add to the pan pouring from the centre outwards.
  • Cook for two minutes, turn down the heat if you need to, flip, then cook for another minute..

Serving Suggestions:

  • Top with agave or maple syrup and cinnamon.
  • Get fancy with sliced bananas, strawberries and a topping of maple syrup.

Instructions (Two large burgers)

  • Mix 1 pouch(115g or approximately 150ml) of dry mix with 160ml boiling water and 1 tsp oil
  • Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes covered.
  • Form into two large  patties or four smaller ones, approximately 1.5 cm thick.
  • Heat pan to medium heat and add a splash of oil
  • Shallow fry  for  approximately 3 minutes on each side or till crispy brown.
  • If it’s charring turn more often. If it’s not going crispy brown, turn up the heat for the last minute.

Pro Tips

  • To get a firmer burger,  let the mix sit in the fridge for a while longer.
  • Our burgers hold together really well, so you can add some grated veg to customise the taste and texture.
  • Pre-cook for 2 mins each side, then throw on the braai with some basting for a real treat

Alternative Uses

  • This burger mix can also be used as a great mince substitute in a Bolognese sauce or even cottage pie. Prep the burgers the same way as above. But as you’re frying them, start to break them up a bit and throw into a fresh sauce for a meaty, chunky taste.
